Walking Taj Mahal, Agre, India
We considered shortly to stay nearby the Taj Mahal, but was worried about the tourists and the attracted commercial crowds around the place. This was wrong. Yes there are tourists and the sales people who come with that. But all is under control. Military control, the Taj is highly guarded inside and out and the whole area feels very safe around evening time. Besides being safe at night the the area around Tak is electrical vehicles only. We rode in on a rickshaw bicycle at the outer West gate (how appropriate). We went in on foot through the food stands and into a small path way as alternative to the larger path. We had it easy with the queuing and had no problem turning down the guide offers (we prefer self guided tours). All around quiet paths all around the compound and there is even a well sized park. Mostly used by you couples for hand holding, but for us a great place to chill out in the shade of the trees. We tried to do a walk from the East gate out the siæent paths and.the t
